Meet Rhianna
Clinical Psychologist / Founder
(she/her)
Rhianna Wynters is an endorsed Clinical Psychologist (APHRA), a board-approved supervisor through the Psychology Board of Australia, and a member of the APS Clinical College of Psychologists. She completed a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and a Masters in Psychology (Clinical) with Distinction at the University of Wollongong.
Rhianna works with children, adolescents, young adults and their families. She is passionate about creating an environment where people feel safe and comfortable being their authentic selves by providing gender-affirming and neuro-affirming care. As a late identified ADHDer, receiving a diagnosis in adulthood, Rhianna understands the importance of recognising someone's neurotype and brings her lived experience to her work.
Rhianna provides comprehensive assessments for learning difficulties, behaviour, emotion dysregulation, anxiety and mood disorders, and attention difficulties. She provides diagnostic assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, intellectual disability, and specific learning disorders (e.g. dyslexia) using standardised psychometric tools. She has extensive experience in assessment, having previously worked in tertiary developmental assessment and NICU developmental follow-up teams.
Rhianna also holds a small therapy caseload. She utilises evidence-based treatment approaches to therapy including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). She values a collaborative approach working together with the young person and the people that support them, such as family, teachers and relevant professionals. She works with a variety of presentations including anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, emotion regulation difficulties, anger, low self-esteem, and self-harm/suicidality.
Rhianna's previous experience includes having worked across private practice, public health, education and non-government organisation settings in roles supporting young people’s development and mental health. From this, she has in depth knowledge of the systems supporting young people.
Rhianna also enjoys supporting early career psychologists in a supervision role. When not at Building Blocks Psychology, Rhianna works in an academic role at the University of Wollongong, supporting students with their training in cognitive and psychometric assessment.
